Walmart Commerce Technologies

"Retail is changing, and there’s a lot of pressure to adapt quickly and serve customers where, when and how they shop." 

Walmart Commerce Technologies (WCT) is a B2B initiative born out of the Walmart Global Tech division, which offers retail businesses the world-class technologies that Walmart uses to enable operations like self-checkout, pickup and delivery, to accelerate growth for their own business.

DLA helped to create brand positioning, a name (formerly Tech Commercialization), a sophisticated visual ID, and a one-page website to capture lead generation.

Our mission was to create a unique visual brand identity for the WCT team whilst maintaining a visual thread to Walmart Global Tech.

This visual identity brings to life the seamless omnichannel experience that retailers can leverage with Walmart’s technology. We use gradient lines to illustrate this connectivity and growth. We also use illustrations to add humanity and showcase abstract concepts.

The end result was a collaborative effort between DLA and Walmart digital teams. We implemented customized modules into a website built within the Walmart.com environment.

The WCT color palette is bright & friendly—leaning into a range of blues & a pop of green, which is consistent with the global tech green for a connective thread that links back to Walmart Global Tech (WGT). We utilize a total of four primary colors & four secondary.

The final product is a global website that is useful, relatable, responsive, modern and elegant. The design approach is minimal and clean with the use of extensive white space and intentional moments of utility. The photography alongside the use of friendly illustrations provide a sense of warmth that is inviting and personable.
